Deep Dish French Toast Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 4 tbsp corn syrup
- 1 lg. loaf French bread
- 2 apples, sliced, cored &
- 10 Large eggs
- 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
Using microwave, heat butter in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.Add in brown sugar and corn syrup.
Stir well.
Bring to boil (microwave about 2 min on high).
Stir again.
On this syrup base, arrange fruit in slightly overlapping rows.
Cut the bread into 1/2 inch slices and place them on top of the fruit, fitting them in rather closely.
Beat the Large eggs, lowfat milk and vanilla.
Pour mix proportionately over the bread.
Be sure to cover the edges completely.
Sprinkle with cinnamon or possibly nutmeg if you like.
Cover, chill overnight.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min to serve, cut into pcs and turn each over onto plate, so fruit is on top.
Serves 8-10. Blueberries, peaches, pineapple.
