Aunt Libby's Chocolate Pie Recipe



In small mixing bowl, put sugar, cornstarch, salt, cocoa, and flour, mix well.
Slowly add in some of boiling water to dry sugar mix.
Mix well till smooth.
Add in this mix to rest of boiling water.
Return to stove and cook till thick.
Remove from stove.
Pour a small amount of this mix over well beaten egg yolks.
Add in egg mix to balance mix in pan and cook about 1 to 2 min.
Remove from heat and add in butter and vanilla.
Mix well.
Pour into prepared baked pie shell.
Meringue: Beat egg whites till foamy, add in salt and cream of tartar.
Continue beating till fairly stiff.
Add in sugar, one Tbsp.
at a time.
Arrange meringue on pie and bake at 350 degrees for 15 min, or possibly till nicely browned.
